well, it is a LONG time since i have updated this blog! Appologies to anyone who has been disappointed!
We have lost quite a few hamsters over the past 8 months:
Orchid: Orchid's tumour grew so large that she couldn't lift her front leg up without toppling over. and i took her to be put to sleep. It was a sad end as she was still so full of personality and was even asking to play at the vets. Orchid was such a special, loving girl.
Ruby: Ruby was put to sleep at the same time as Orchid. She had been going downhill for 5 days, hardly able to leave her nest. I decided it was the kindest thing to do. I still miss my shiny beauty very much. She was a special girl.
Jake: Jake died in his sleep at home after a few days of going downhill. He was a sweet little boy who loved attention and toys.
Petal: Petal had an abscess on her belly, and sadly, it burst one day and Petal lost a lot of blood and passed away. She had a long period of illness and didn't have very much of a happy life, poor little girl. I had planned to pair her up with Rose once they were older, but sadly, with Petal being ill, it was never possible.
Hugo: Hugo died in his sleep at home. He had been unwell for a few days and i was pleased to see him pass peacefully and put an end to his lingering. He was a playful chap, full of bounce (when you could get him out of his bed!)
Trixie: Trixie was unwell for a well with a UTI and other problems. She went downhill rapidly but was lingering on at the end, so we took her to be put to sleep. She was a fiesty girl who loved chewing her cardboard toys
Megan: Megan was put to sleep at the same time as Trixie. She had a tumour and bladder stones and was losing a lot of blood. She was such a character; she was one of the most outgoing hamsters we've ever had. She is missed.
Hamish: This was a tragic loss of such a young hamster who passed before his time. Hamish was always such a lively, bouncy chap and one night he leapt from my arms and was killed by the fall to the floor. He is very much missed. He was one of the cutest hamsters i ever saw and i wish i had a photo that showed his true beauty. My poor boy.
