This is the page where I pay tribute to my wonderful hamster friends who have crossed over to the rainbow bridge.
Harvey came to me on 02/12/06, aged 6 months, and passed away 15/07/08. He was put to sleep as he was suffering from Cushings disease.
Harvey is one of my favourite hamsters ever. He was so wonderful and a lovely friend to me. He came on holidays with me to Blackpool, York, Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford. Harvey enjoyed cuddles, running in his ball and exploring new areas. He had the most wonderful temprament and personality. He would come to my feet if i called him. I would have liked to have bred Harvey, but he got sick before i got the chance to. Harvey is greatly missed. His legacy remains through my show prefix, Harvey Hams. |
Bunsey came to me when she was around 6 months old after having had a litter. She was then dumped at a pet shop along with the babies.
What can i say about my darling - she was such a wonderful hamster and my best friend. She would come to my feet if i called her and she loved to snuggle down inside my dressing gown for long naps. Bunsey arrived on 3rd December 2005 and died 9th Feb 2007. She was put to sleep because of advanced cushings disease. I miss her a lot. Bunsey was always very protective of me and now she looks out for me from the rainbow bridge. |
Hatty came to me from a rescue centre in Cambridge and i collected her from Birmingham one stormy night in December 2007.
She was a wonderful girl who loved cuddles. She was about 18m - 2yrs when she came here and was very overweight as she had been neglected in her original home. Unfortunatey, my beautiful girl passed away just 6 weeks after arriving here from 2 strokes (January 2008). I wish i could've had more time with her as we had become very close already. I comfort myself in the knowledge that she at least knew a kind home for a few weeks of her life. |
Holly (AKA Fluffness) was bought from a pet shop on 31/12/05. She was really fiesty and full of character. Her favourite things to do were chewing, running like mad in her ball, chewing, exploring, chewing, digging and more chewing.
She passed away of old age on 02/03/08, aged 2 years and 3 months. She will be remembered mostly for the laughter she brought into our home. |
I bought Hemma from a pet shop on 25/02/06. She was a very gentle, polite lady. She enjoyed a delicate stroll in her ball. she was very loyal and liked to stay close to my feet whenever possible. She adored cuddles and attention. Hemma developed a closed pyometra and was put to sleep on 14/10/07, aged approximately 1yr 10m. More information on pyometra can be found under the Hamster Care section, then Hamster Health. |
Mocha was a rescue hamster who was with me for only a short time. She came to us (as her 3rd owners) on 29/07/07. She passed away on 03/11/07, seemingly from a stroke. She was aged 10 months.
Mocha was very cheeky and enjoyed rushing around as fast as she could in her ball and wheel. She loved pouching food! Mocha is either a chocolate or black. The opinions of experts differ on this matter! |
Hannah was a rescue hamster. She came to me in January 2008, aged 7 months. She had to be put to sleep on 9th Feb 09 because she had a brain tumour, which was pushing her eyes out and causing her distress.
Hannah enjoyed her large cage and especially liked her swing bridge, as seen in the picture. She was a very sweet girl. |
Oscar was bred by Bourne Valley Hams, born on 03/10/07. He is the father of Ruby's litter, the Moolous. Oscar won his class at the Bradford Excel Small Animal Championships, in January 2008. Oscar's nickname is MooMoo and he was very gentle and sweet. He was lovely and soft and like a living teddy bear! He was very proud of his children: Oswald, Hugo and Trixie. Oscar had a stroke on 20/04/09 and we made the decision to have him put to sleep on 24/04/09 as he was struggling to eat, drink or clean himself. |
Blossom came to live with us when she was 18m because her previous owner had lost interest and the family were moving house. She passed away from old age at 2yrs 3m.
She was a lovely tame girl who was calm and content with sitting on our hands and having cuddles. She always reminded me of a polite and dignified lady and I liked to refer to her as Mrs Bloss! She enjoyed running in her ball, digging in her sand bath and playing with her toys. |
Jock was only 12 weeks old when he passed away from some kind of neurological disorder or other problem in his brain.
Jock was a long-haired red-eyed cream, carrying rex (making his coat slightly wavy). He was absolutely gorgeous and one of the cutest hamsters i've ever seen. He came here with his brother Hamish. |
Phoebe came to us from Bourne Valley hams, born 02/07/08. She passed away suddenly at only one year old.
She was a beautiful and gentle girl. She was very calm and quiet. She loved to explore, run in her wheel and play in her roof tubes. She was very pretty, but difficult to photograph. She was a little princess and will be missed. |
Ruby is a long-haired satin black-eyed cream, bred by Wyeside Hamstery. She was born on 12/03/08. She gave birth to her first litter on 13/08/08.
Ruby's favourite things to do include exploring, re-arranging her cage and sitting with me having cuddles in the garden. She is so beautiful and her photos don't do her justice. |
Hugo is the son of Ruby and Oscar, part of my Moolou litter, born 13th August 2008. He is the brother of Oswald and Trixie. He is very sweet, soppy and a bit dopey! There's a lot of fluff between those ears and not a lot else, but we love him to bits! Hugo's favourite activity is sleeping and his favourite place is his cosy nest! |
Megan came to us recently from the Pets at Home adoption scheme. She had been in the centre for a few months and no-one was interested in her as she had been labelled as a hamster for expert handlers only. However, we found her to be a charming lady who wouldn't hurt a fly. She's a cheeky girl, whose favourite things to do are pouch tissues and come out in her ball. |
Trixie is also from the "Moolou" litter. She wasn't intended to stay with us, but the home we had lined up for her fell through so we kept her. She is the sister of Oswald and Hugo, born 13.08.08. She is very feisty and has loads of energy. She loves to explore, run around and to chew things! She is mallowing out a bit as she gets older, but is still a handfull! |
